mixture of architectural styles in and around Smithfield Market look particularly strange in the daytime, when the (nocturnal) market is deserted.

I'm starting a PhD on the cultural geography of Smithfield - which is on the verge of permanent closure - in the autumn. I hope to continue photographing the area and its inhabitants over the next few years.
